happened: spOtDance
art in unexpected places is my favorite thing ever, and friday night i got to witness something magical. it was SpOtDance, a dance performance that wound its way through the length of a shopping mall outside of seattle, and i loved it. as they explain it:
“SpOtDance is part of The SITE SERIES // Dance on Common Ground, which uses movement to encourage us to see and explore our daily surroundings. This series of site-specific contemporary dance performances, staged in public spaces, explores the interactions and relationships of people both to a space and to each other, and how these affect our sense of who/what “belongs” in each space. Each performance takes this question of “who/what belongs” into account as it surprises the audience with dance in unexpected places and with unexpected interactions. Created by Aiko Kinoshita”
the movement itself was lovely, but watching the dancers move amongst the unsuspecting shoppers was breathtaking. i took a ton of photos. clicky.
