one of the cool people i stalk on the internets is alice, from the addicting wonderland blog, which has a focus on gaming, geekery and technology (three great tastes that go great together).

she had the kindness to call my attention to this:

recognize that little man? the green one with the braces? yeah, he’s mine.

the article is about the diy movement, etsy and more. alice is in there too, as well she should be. clicky.

etsy find: hand sewn bags by recycled rings

January 21st, 2008 by moxie

puffybags.jpg

these are made by hand embellishing zillions of puff balls and beads onto vintage coin purses. they take weeks to make and no two are the same.

i love how organic they look, as if they are undulating before my eyes. i’m sure you can tell by the shop name, they have lovely jewelry too. clicky.

if i had the ability to produce this in the palm of my hand at will, it’d be my calling card right now.

etsy find: baby rocks mohawks

January 18th, 2008 by moxie

. . . .

the only reason i can think of to have a child of my own is so i could make it wear hats like these.

while this says bad things about my motherly instincts it does prove how awesome the goods are at the baby rocks mohawks etsy shop. there’s more to choose from too! clicky.

it’s just like it sounds: pepper sprayed men.

the really strange part is that these photos are nestled sweetly in the midst of THE gayest flickr stream i have ever seen.

this is horrifying…

January 11th, 2008 by moxie

when you try to listen to some this american life online, most of which is awesome AND free, and you type in .com instead of .org, you are met with:

– the phrase “sex offender”

– a generic, not-smiling pretty lady

– an elderly woman who has fallen down and, indeed, can’t get up

– the startlingly disapproving face of c. everett coop

don’t believe me? here…take a big steaming gawk for yourself:

lifealert1.jpg

don’t be like me: .org when it’s .org. and while you .org, listen to this or this or this.

welcome to my new bag

January 9th, 2008 by moxie

newbag.jpg

i am a really really picky bag owner. it stems from my compulsive need to carry a lot of things with me all the time, but also to be able to easily find each thing when i need it, and then to also not want too many things with me, while i look real cool and not at all like a camel or pack mule of some kind.

it’s been a long time, but i think the good folks at pear have finally saved me from any further seeking. my new bag is incredibly well-made and has exactly the right amount of storage, with beautiful colors and awesome textures. even the strap is cute AND it doesn’t slip off or make me hunch over. AND it came with a cute little zippy purse too.

you should know that it came with a really pretty vintage pin, but i changed it out for the pins i always wear…cause i loves them.

even though you might be sad cause i scored the teal bag of joy, there are a lot of others to choose from. did i mention they also do skirts and clutches and more? clicky.
