consiglieri, consider: felines!
i’d like to get some help and info from you. first, the back-story:
i think animals are cute, and i like to meet them and hold them and all that, but i never feel the need to make them mine.
however, i went to get my hair cut on friday and there were a couple of kittens (brother and sister) hanging out at deluxe. born in the wild, they were there for socialization so i held them and played with them to help out. at one point the little girl was sitting in my hands, looking straight up into my eyes for what seemed like forever. then, while maintaining eye contact, she fell asleep and that is when my heart exploded.
paul and i went back on saturday for a play-date. the boy is super friendly and agile. he climbed me like a mountain and made himself comfortable. the little girl is a little more shy but just as inquisitive… we nearly passed out from laughing when she jumped into the waste basket.
and that’s that, my friend. we are totally owned by kittens now. they were spayed and neutered on sunday and we’ll be picking them up tonight.
here’s a picture that lisa at deluxe took… i dare you to not to fall in love. it’s impossible, i swear.

on the left, we have “snafu” and on the right, in mid-swat, we have “hermano.”
more photos here.

And I for one, welcome our new feline overlords.
From one owner of brother and sister ferals to another, there are two toys I cannot live without. One is the CatCharmer. It will make your cats so happy!
My other favorite is the Yeowww! brand of catnip toys. The blunt and rainbow are popular in this house. Here is a short vid of Roscoe with his blunt.
Congratulations!

OMG that’s the cutest story! I wish you had video of her falling asleep in your hands!!
There are lots of pet projects on the CRAFT blog. Just click on “pets” in the right nav category. There are bed projects, catnip toys, etc.

Congrats on the new additions! I’m away from home at the moment but I can go into detail later. I have had a rabbit and two cats in the house at the same time and the rabbit totally lorded it over the cats.
Cats must scratch so you have to make it oblivious to them whats ok and whats not ok to scratch. You can even take them to the scratch spot and rub their front paws on it. They like different textures so provide different things to scratch. One thing should be tall enough for an adult cat can totally stretch on it.
Toys are everywhere. Cats (and especially kittens) play with everything. Crumpled foil or paper, felted balls and mice, and store bought stuff. They will also enjoy the stuff you do for rabbits like bags and boxes to climb in. Do Not give them yarn, string, or rubber bands.
Buy the best food you can afford. In the long run you will save on vet bills and your kitties will live longer.
There is a quickie, more info later. And please email me with any questions. Not only am I spawn from cat ladies but I have also worked in a vets office. I have seen some crazy things.

They’re adorable! I just saw a cute book called “Pads for Pets” that has a “house of catitude” you can make out of crates and a “cat liter island” with a palm tree. Google books has a nice preview. . .
