goldenpeacock (amy) made an unbelievably lucky score, some of which she’s sharing on flickr. she says:
I obtained this set of 1970s encyclopedias from East Village Books when I discovered they were going to throw them away.
what amazes me is how we’ve somewhat forgotten that diy wasn’t born yesterday.
go marvel at the beauty (silverware jewelry, flower bed spread) and pain (table runner made of dried beans, john wayne gacy make up) of the 1970s crafty scene. clicky.
after buying myself a gocco on ebay in december, it was stolen off my porch. it’s taken until this week for the horror to be sorted out and now, at last, it is here.
i had so much fun making these notecards, i’m already scheming about the next project. clicky.
i found this while doing some research about spinning yarn on a drop spindle. the internet future times we live in are magical in that real info on video is easy to grab up and learn but sometimes it’s hard to avoid the drek.
as it turned out, there were a lot of spinning videos, but none better than this because, this one melds together the best and worst of the internet future times; watch a lovely young woman spin yarn on a drop spindle while her mom yells at her brother and hassles her about college paperwork.
(brother yelling is immediate, college conflict @ 1:00)
* 3/17/08 update * – this awesome video was made by samantha who has a blog about knitting and other good stuff. thanks for getting in touch, samantha!
